Biography & Autobiography
Synopsis

Lee Kinard was the youngest announcer at WFMY TV in Greensboro, N.C., still new to the job, when the station's program director stopped him in the hallway in the fall of 1957 and asked if he'd like to do a morning show.Sure, replied Kinard, what do you want me to do?I don't know said the program director, you think about it and let me know what you come up with. What Kinard came up with was a 30-minute program called The Good Morning Show, a mix of music, news, weather, sports and public service announcements, which premiered at 7:30 on December 16, 1957. Kinard never dreamed that 40 years later he would still be host of the show, now two-hours long and a regional institution with a national reputation. In this book of celebration, Kinard takes the reader behind the scenes to tell not only how his show came about and thrived against the stiffest competition the national networks could throw against him, he writes about the celebrities who have appeared on his show, the travels that took him -- and his viewers -- throughout the world, the light moments and the hours of crisis, the co-hosts who worked with him, and what the show has meant not only to him, but to the community it has served.
