Synopsis

Locked away and forgotten, the broken and weathered Great Marble Map of Rome bears in its inscriptions the secrets of the ancient imperial city. Mere fragments are all that posterity has preserved of this once-four-story-tall map. Yet, twenty-first century technology makes possible high-resolution imaging and matching of the crumbling marble fragments, presenting an opportunity to reconstitute this one-of-a-kind map crafted at the start of the third century. In this cooperative tile-placement game for 1–4 players, you are one of a team of experts, entrepreneurs, and public figures tasked with reconstructing the monumental Great Marble Map of Rome. You must work together to construct an image of ancient Rome using tiles representing fragments of the map. Yet, competition lies beneath the veneer of cooperation. Each player has an agenda influencing their work on the map. Balancing the conflicting interests of professors and politicians, real estate developers and museum curators will be as important as working together to assemble the map. —description from the designer
