Synopsis
The Americans went through hell at Bloody Omaha, but the Canadians also had their beach bathed in blood and fury. Shortly after the offensive began, the infantry was pinned down on the beach under enemy fire. Heavy support was urgently needed, but the sappers could not open enough gaps in the submerged defenses to land the tanks. The Landing Craft Tanks braved the danger anyway and dropped the tanks on the beach, risking grounding or hitting a mine. The arrival of these tanks changed the course of the battle, and very quickly the situation became unblocked.
